Why having a Christian Worldview of History is Imporant
Having a Christian Worldview is very important when it comes to studying history. Having this kind of a mindset does not mean that you must only study events that are Christian focus. A Christian Worldview reminds us that “The Bible provides principles of ethics that guide our evaluation of people and nations. [1] ” This is extremely important because we want to make sure that we are studying the past not with the bias of today but looking through the lens of history so we can see how these people truly lived. We must also remember to keep a strong and true “Commitment to objectivity and honesty is essential to historical investigation. [2] ” We must remain honest in our study of history. To many times it is said that “history is written by the victors.” But as historians we need to do justice to all the people in the past because their stories are just as important has those who were victorious.
